Construction materials : The top layer of the volcanic ash for use as the construcion materials of the santorini architecture which is called Theran soil. The materials of the houses is good for mitigate the damage of volcano and earthquakes. The form of constral is quite simple, consisting of prisms, cylinders & domes. They choose white as house colour and sea blue for the top which form the stylish color for the island architecture.
Characters: I feel impressive about santorni's architecture.Restricted by the influence of the volcano and earthquakes, the buildings in the island have minimize and maximum.The front of houses were closed by masonry walls, sometimes used as a base for the veranda of the next house up.The front openings are the only entries of daylight & fresh air in those deep spaces. So actually you can cross through the roof to the neighbours.
Location : One of the reason made santorini is unique because of the location of the buildings. They are far away from the beach, which hanging on cliffs of 150m to 300m height. The island is famous of its caldera and piracy.
