They are two same images, just one has been rotate 90 degree which create different 3D view of them.
One make your vision look the object has been project upward, like layers of hat, and the other looks extends behind, like tunnel.

are they 2d images to be used on 3d forms? how about overlapping the images and play with scales, colours and materials?
